Airport Workers Speak Out on a Challenging Travel Season

SEIU6 passenger service workers spoke to the Seattle Times about the challenges they faced over the winter holidays. The Omicron variant and winter snowstorms were just two of the factors that made this travel season particularly volatile.

Saba Belachew, a lead wheelchair agent, is one of many SEIU6 members who’ve risen to the challenge of working on the frontlines of global travel during a pandemic.

“To be honest, it’s a really scary time. You’ll never be free like before. But still, we have to do what we have to do,” she said. “Personally, I love to help people by any means. When I help someone who really needs help, I am so happy.”
