Become a Shop Steward
Change the balance of power at your workplace. SEIU6 shop stewards become experts in contract enforcement and empower their coworkers to stand up for their rights. Shop stewards welcome new members into our union and serve as union representation in meetings with management.
Get Politically Active
SEIU6 fights for workers on the job and beyond. That’s why we take an active role in local, state and national politics. SEIU6 members can get involved in the political process by joining the political committee, donating to the Worker Power Fund or by coming out to canvass for a candidate or issue.

New Member Experience Committee
Welcome new members to our union and connect them to the resources they need to stand up for their rights in the workplace.
Communications Committee
Develop skills in public speaking and social media as a member of the SEIU6 Communications Committee. Help get the word out in person and online to move campaigns and advance issues for working families.
Womxn’s Committee
All female-identifying members are welcome to the SEIU6 Womxn’s Committee, which shapes our union’s priorities in advancing the interests of working womxn and our families. Womxn’s Committee members fight for gender equality in contract language and workplace culture while building a vision for an equitable future.
Political Committee
Help determine which policies SEIU6 should fight for, which candidates we should back, and help hold elected officials accountable to working families. The SEIU6 political committee meets monthly to discuss politics, interview candidates and get the word out to fellow union members on upcoming elections.
Attend a union meeting
SEIU6 holds General Membership Meetings four times per year, on the second Saturday in January, April, July and October at 12:30pm. Meetings are in person or online depending on current health recommendations. Meetings by industry are held monthly for janitors, security officers and airport workers.
