For janitors covered under the King County Master Agreement, extra COVID-19 protections were negotiated into the July 2020 Contract Extension. These protections were strengthened in 2021 contract negotiations. Learn more about janitor protections.

SEIU6 Vaccine Clinic
On April 17th and 18th SEIU6 hosted a vaccine clinic in partnership with Discovery Health. Over 400 members in the airport, security and janitorial sectors were vaccinated, plus their family members. SEIU6 president Zenia Javalera got her vaccine alongside union members. City Councilmember Teresa Mosqueda was in attendance to support SEIU6 essential workers.

SEIU6 CALLS ON STATE TO EXTEND VACCINE ELIGIBILITY TO ALL ESSENTIAL WORKERS
As Washington State expands vaccine eligibility next week, essential janitors and security officers will once again be left off the list. While SEIU6 has partnered with the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) to appeal to Governor Inslee and the State Department of Health to expedite access for these workers, janitors and security officers are being told to wait.
